The story & team behind Shoppie040

In the kitchen of the Springplank foundation, we cook daily for candidates of the Social Care in Eindhoven, residents of our locations (local residents), Ukrainian refugees and maybe even for you! Mounir Toub, also known from 24Kitchen and Koken met Max, is our chef. His team, called TeamToub, consists of 16 people.

These are Springplank staff, people who do day care from the Social Support Centre and volunteers. Some of our Springplank colleagues who work in the kitchen used to work in social care themselves. So they know better than anyone else what it is like to be homeless and what kind of meals you need!

Springplank's kitchen has room to provide more meals in the region! Therefore, it is now possible to order varied, balanced, tasty and nutritious meals for €7.50 per meal in our webshop.

Do you have ideas or want to collaborate? Or orders for companies?

FAQ - The most frequently asked questions

We have three pick-up locations:

Springplank headquarters, Paradijslaan 20, Eindhoven

This is Springplank's head office and home to many people who work at Springplank. The head office is open on weekdays from 09:00 to 17:00 and you can pick up your meal there from 14:00.

Happie040 TU/e, Blauwe Loper 66, Eindhoven

Happie040 is Springplank's kitchen and restaurant. Hundreds of meals are prepared here every week by (former) candidates and Springplank staff. The meals go to all Springplank's reception locations, but you can also join in or pick up a meal here.

Bakkie040, Leidingstraat 17a in Eindhoven

Bakkie040 is a coffee shop run by Springplank where candidates from the Social Welfare Centre are trained as baristas. It is located at Strijp-S (on the lawn opposite the two big wooden hands) and is open from Tuesday to Saturday from 9:00 to 16:00 and on Sunday from 12:00 to 16:00. Meals can be collected here from Tuesday to Friday from 13:00 to 16:00. Bakkie040 is run by Mounir Toub along with his team!

The meals are freshly made and are delivered the same day. If you still want to freeze the meal, we recommend freezing it within 2 days of picking it up. Do write the freezing date on it so you know when you froze the meal. Once frozen, it can be kept frozen for at least 3 months.

If you want to eat the frozen meal, we recommend defrosting the meal in the fridge the night before. Once thawed, you can heat the meal via microwave or oven (as described earlier). Please note, once thawed do not freeze and consume within 2 days.

We mainly use fresh products for the meals. As we make many meals a day, we also use semi-finished products (e.g. pre-cooked rice) to ensure the high quality and high level of hygiene we demand of ourselves.

The packaging is made of PP*:

*PP (polypropene or polypropylene) is used in many different products, such as plastic furniture, baby bottles, lunch boxes and drinking cups, toys, car parts and jerry cans. PP is also used in mouth caps, nappies, tampons and ropes. Products made from PP are safe.

The meals can be heated in different ways. You can heat the dish in both the microwave and oven. In the tray, it can be reheated like this in the microwave at an average of 500 watts for 5 - 8 minutes. If you want to reheat it in the oven, this is not possible in the trays they come in. If so, it is better to scoop the meal into an ovenproof dish or onto a (oven-proof) plate and then reheat it. Advice is to then heat the meal in a preheated oven at 140ºC for 12-15 minutes.

Team Toub at Springplank puts together a delicious menu every week. Led by Mounir Toub, they run Springplank's kitchen in Eindhoven. The team itself includes ex-candidates (former homeless people) from Springplank. Together they form a close-knit team and prepare hundreds of meals every week.

Each meal describes the allergens it contains.

As the meals are made daily fresh, they keep for three days in the fridge. If the meals are placed in the freezer immediately after collection, they will keep for at least three months.
